Immanuel Baptist Church in Southsea is delighted to host an evening talk by the Rev Colin Chambers, the former Chaplain for Robben Island at the time when Nelson Mandela and other ANC leaders were imprisoned there.
Colin is a former Lt Cdr in the South African Navy, a qualified special needs primary school teacher and an Ordained Christian Minister. He was a Prison Chaplain in South Africa for 15 years during the apartheid era, including the eight years when Nelson Mandela was on Robben Island, and during this time the two men became personal friends.
This will be a unique opportunity to learn about Colin’s experiences with Nelson Mandela and to gain an insight into the events which shaped the future South African president.
